The Mountain

I am standing on this mountain so high

And all that surrounds me is sky

The earth and the ground are nowhere near

And the cries of the world I cannot hear

I am in my place where nothing can take me away

And here I want to forever stay

Where I can see all that is below

And on the very peak the fresh winter snow

I know that I have my life down there

But its just so nice to stop and not have a single care

I wish I could stay up here and forget the world and all its mess

And then my worries would become less and less

I could rest for more than just a few days

And see the sunrise and set and its brilliant rays

Everything would shine with beauty

But I know that I have other duties

I know that others are counting on me

And that I cannot just leave

It is not only a duty but a life that I want to live

And to complete my mission to others I must give

So I go down from the mountain and remember its glory

And I can tell others my story

I will go back some day

But for now here I must stay
